Subgenus Euempis Frey

The subgenus Euempis (with E. tessellata Fabricius, 1794 as type-species) currently includes 20 species. Only one species ( E. spiralis Collin, 1937 ) 1937 was previously known from Iran ( Shamshev & Grootaert 2005). We found E. tessellata for the first time in Iran, though the species is very common and widely distributed species in the Palaearctic.
