Type horizon.
Late Turonian, late Cretaceous.
Type locality.
"Aus der Gams, nordwestlich von Hieflau in Steiermark" [from Gams, northwest of Hieflau in Styria], Austria.
Types.
Kollmann (1984: 57) designated a lectotype, which is stored in the collection of the Geological Survey Austria, Vienna (coll. no. 1856/3/4).
Remarks.
Type species of the melanopsid genus Megalonoda Kollmann, 1984.
