Material. New Caledonia: 2 specimens (MNHN-IU-2007-4770), station DW2024, 23°28’S 167°51’E, 21 X 2003, depth 370–371 m, Ride de Norfolk, Banc Brachiopode. 1 specimen (MNHN-IU-2007-4771), station CP2048, 23°44’S 168°16’E, 24 X 2003, depth 380–385 m, Ride de Norfolk, Banc Jumeau Est. Both Lozonet, Samedi & Richer-IRD coll.
Remarks. This species has a proboscis characteristically tapering to a tubular distal third. It is currently endemic to the Melanesian region, having been recorded from numerous samples around New Caledonia, the Loyalty and Chesterfield Islands, and Fiji ( Stock 1991a; 1997; Bamber 2004a; 2004b), in a depth range of 270 to 1475 m. Its distinctions from the similar Colossendeis sinuosa (see below) were discussed by Bamber (2004b).
