Bathyfauvelia affinis (Fauvel, 1914) | Macellicephala annae Reyss, 1968
Notes
Reported as Macellicephala annae by Chardy et al. (1973) from deep waters (2000-3000 m) in the Aegean and Ionian Sea, without giving a precise location. It is highly likely that the species was found in the Aegean in Greek waters, as such depths do not occur near the Turkish coast. Pettibone (1976) synonymised the two species after having examined the holotype of Macellicephala annae and Arvanitidis (2000a), accordingly, uses the name Bathyfauvelia affinis in his checklist. Type locality: Western Mediterranean.
