Scaphoideus sagittatus View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 E, J, O, 3H, 13A–G)
Coloration and structure ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 E, J, 3H) as in S. coniceus , but facial and dorsal markings slightly different. Face only with one anterior marginal line ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 O). Whitish longitudinal stripe on crown and scutellum with two pale brown bands at lateral margin ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 E, 3H). Forewings with two reflexed cross veins between outer anteapical cell and costal margin, basal reflexed vein basad of outer anteapical cell ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 E, J).
Male genitalia. Pygofer in lateral view longer than broad, margin conically rounded posteriorly, with several two tufts of long macrosetae lined subapically and scatter short macrosetae from subapical to middle ( Figs. 13 View FIGURE 13 A, B). Subgenital plate triangular, elongate, slightly less than 1/2 length of pygofer side, with 2 long macrosetae near base ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 C). Style with broad anterior part and well developed preapical lobe, apical process rugose, curved laterally with sharp apex ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 C, D). Connective with stem longer than arms; processes narrowed, asymmetrically curved and with convoluted ridge in apical region ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 C, E). Aedeagus with well developed dorsal apodeme, shaft very short, almost as long as dorsal apodeme, tapering apically, with a sharp apex curved dorsally in lateral view, and a pair of lateral triangular processes near apex in ventral aspect ( Figs. 13 View FIGURE 13 F, G).
Measurements. Male 4.3–4.8mm long, 0.9–1mm wide across eyes.
Etymology. The specific epithet ‘ sagittatus ’ refers to the shape of the aedeagus from ventral view in this species.
Material examined. Holotype ♂, Yunnan, Mengyang, 6.vi.1991, Wang Yinglun and Tian Rungang; Paratype: 1♂, Yunnan, Mengyang, 5.vi.1991, Wang Yinglun and Tian Rungang.
Remarks. The new species is similar to S. albovittatus and S. rostratus sp.nov., but differs in having a short aedeagal shaft, almost as long as the dorsal apodeme, tapering apically in lateral view, with lateral triangular processes near the apex in ventral aspect.
