Recorded from near London by Walker (1835, as S. abaris ). The lectotype male of S. abaris is conspecific with the well-known female S. ventrale . The species has no hyperoccipital carina, notauli faintly indicated over most of length, mesopleuron distinctly longitudinally striated in most of upper half, and reddish-brown A1 and legs.
