Harpalus obliquus Horn, 1880

Harpalus obliquus G.H. Horn, 1880a: 140. Type locality: "Fort Bayard [Grant County], New Mexico" (original citation). Lectotype [as type] (♂), designated by Ball (1972: 194), in MCZ [# 34601].

Glanodes regressus Casey, 1914: 62. Type locality: "near Benson [Cochise County], Arizona" (original citation). Lectotype [as holotype] (♀), designated by Ball (1972: 196), in USNM [# 47737]. New synonymy. Note. The lectotype of Harpalus regressus (Casey) is a female that could not be identified with certainty. However, Ball (1972: 196) wrote that the specimen is "probably ... a member of Harpalus obliquus Horn." Based on that statement, I believe it is best to treat Casey’s name as a junior synonym of Harpalus obliquus .

Distribution.

This species is found in southern (Perrault 1974: 120) and western New Mexico and southeastern Arizona [see Ball 1972: Fig. 13].
