Type species. Unixenus padmanabhai ( Jones, 1937)
Generic diagnosis: The genus can be distinguished from other polyxenid genera by the following character combination: Antennomere VI with three thick bacilliform sensilla, a setiform sensillum between two thick bacilliform sensilla anteriorly, a conical sensillum located posteriorly. Labral surface with spherical papillae gradually reducing in size toward posterior margin. Lateral palp of gnathochilarium with 13 conical sensilla, and 1.5–2.5 times longer than medial palp. Tergal trichomes: two or more rows in two latero-posterior clusters on each side of midline, with central gap. Anterior row often uneven, intermediate rows rarely in defined rows, and posterior rows of trichome sockets continuous or with a medial gap. Tarsus 2 with setiform seta.
