Type Locality: Tanzania, Uluguru Mtns, Morningside, 1150 m.

Vernacular Names: Telford's Shrew.

Distribution: Uluguru and Udzungwa Mtns, in montane forest.

Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered CR B1+2c.

Discussion: Part of the endemic fauna of the Eastern Arc Mountains in Tanzania. Stanley et al. (2000 b) reported this species also from the Udzungwa Mtns.
