Type species Sphex rufipes Linnaeus, 1758 , by monotypy.
Remarks. Episyron is a cosmopolitan genus, with five Nearctic species. Only one species enters South America ( Wasbauer & Kimsey 1985), which is also found in the Caribbean. Genaro (1995) recorded this genus for the first time for the Dominican Republic.
