Diagnosis. This species is diagnostic by the ochreous yellow forewing having three shining white spots; in the male genitalia by the trapezoidal uncus and the cornutus of the aedeagus consisting of six spines; in the female genitalia by the ductus bursae with a sclerotized sub-rectangular plate anteriorly. Stathmopoda orbiculata is similar to S. bucera sp. nov. and S. rhombica sp. nov., and the differences between them are stated in the diagnosis of the preceding two species.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 10‒14 ). Wingspan 13.5–15.0 mm. Head with frons and vertex silvery white, vertex tinged with ochreous yellow; occiput ochreous to dark ochreous. Labial palpus with second segment cream white on inner surface, pale yellowish brown on outer surface; third segment ochreous yellow. Antenna ochreous yellow, scape silvery white on anterior margin, flagellum annulated with blackish brown. Collar shining white, tinged with ochreous yellow; thorax shining white in basal half, blackish brown in distal half mixed with shining yellowish brown; tegula shining white in basal half, greyish brown in distal half mixed with black. Forewing ochreous yellow, with metallic lustre; costal margin blackish brown; ventral margin with three shining white spots edged with blackish brown scales laterally and anteriorly: first spot sub-rounded, from between basal 1/8 and 1/4 to vein Sc; second spot semi-oval, from between basal 2/5 and 3/5 to anterior margin of cell; third spot semi-elliptical, from between basal 3/4 and 4/5 crossing half width of wing; blackish brown streaks connecting three spots on ventral margin; fringe greyish brown. Hindwing and fringe greyish brown. Foreleg ochreous brown, tibia with blackish brown scales, tarsus black at apex; midleg cream white; hindleg ochreous yellow, tibia annulated with blackish brown and bearing pale ochreous brown bristles at middle and apex, tarsus annulated with blackish brown at apex of first tarsomere, with pale yellowish brown bristles at apices of basal two tarsomeres, black at apex. Abdomen dark grey on dorsal surface, greyish white on ventral surface.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 21‒27 ). Uncus trapezoidal, wide basally, narrowed toward straight apex, with long setae laterally. Gnathos wide at base, gradually narrowed to apex, with small tooth apically. Tegumen with height approximately twice length of uncus. Valva wide at base, narrowed toward cucullus; cucullus with basal half parallel, distal half slightly narrowed to rounded apex; inner process hooked; costa trapezoidally convex; sacculus broad, approximately half length of valva, slightly concave at basal 1/3 on ventral margin, apex obtuse, free from cucullus. Vinculum narrowly banded; saccus U-shaped, approximately 1/3 length of uncus. Juxta semi-elliptical, obtusely rounded anteriorly; anellar lobes elongate elliptical, approximately 1.5 times length of juxta. Aedeagus 1.2 times length of valva, wide basally, slightly narrowed to apex, with a sclerotized plate near base; distal process clubbed, 1/4 length of aedeagus, rounded at apex; cornutus consisting of six spines ranging from basal 1/3 to middle.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 37‒40 ). Intersegmental membrane between papillae anales and eighth abdominal segment approximately twice length of papillae anales. Apophyses posteriores approximately 1.3 times length of apophyses anteriores. Eighth segment straight on posterior margin, with long setae; eighth stenite produced anteromedially. Antrum sub-rectangular. Ductus bursae approximately 1.5 times length of corpus bursae, posterior 3/5 almost uniformly wide, anterior 2/5 gradually widened to corpus bursae, with a sclerotized sub-rectangular plate. Corpus bursae rounded; with C-shaped signum at middle and at entrance of corpus bursae respectively, dense microspines present around signum. Ductus seminalis originating from anterior 2/5 of ductus bursae, with 20 large denticles basally.

Distribution. China (Hainan, Hong Kong); India.

Notes. This species is newly recorded for China.
