Microvelia hozari macani Brown, 1953: 584 (as new subspecies); Microvelia perexigua Linnavuori, 1960: 54 ; Microvelia macani Linnavuori, 1986: 38 .
Distribution in Iran. Guilan (Linnavuori & Hosseini 2000), Hormozgan (Linnavuori 2004), Khuzestan (Linnavuori 2009).
General distribution. Eremian, occurring in the Arabian Peninsula, Israel, Iraq, and Iran (Andersen 1995; Linnavuori et al. 2011).
Comments. Collected at light traps in Guilan (Linnavuori & Hosseini, 2000); in biotopes with Juncus sp. ( Juncaceae ), Phragmites sp. (Poaeceae), and sedges (Linnavuori 2009).
The genus Picaultia Distant was synonymized with Microvelia by China & Usinger (1949), but its subgeneric status was reinstated by Andersen & Weir (2003).
