Description. Body length (including forewing): ♂, 5.0– 5.4 mm; ♀, 5.8 mm. Coloration (Figs 1–6) predominantly pale yellow ventrally, black and orange dorsally; median longitudinal carina of frontoclypeus marked black and orange; crown mostly black, apex and anterior margin white, lateral margin orange. Pronotum black with pair of pale yellow lateral maculae and an orange central spot. Mesonotum and scutellum pale yellow. Forewing mostly black with large semiopaque and orange area near middle of corium extended to claval suture and costal margin, clavus with two irregular orange markings, additional irregular orange marking distad on corium. Front trochanter with a pair of enlarged setae in dorsal surface ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 9 – 19 ). Female (Fig. 3) similar to male but variable in tint.
Male pygofer ( Figs 9, 10 View FIGURES 9 – 19 ) posterodorsal angle prolonged into narrow process. Aedeagus ( Figs 11–13 View FIGURES 9 – 19 ) with strongly sclerotized spannerlike structure connecting gonopore to apex of aedeagus; in lateral view, with a lateral flange in sub-apex; apex notched in dorsal and ventral view. Other characteristics as shown in Figs 1–19.
Type material. THAILAND: Holotype ♂ ( QSBG), Chanthaburi Khao Khitchakut NP Prabaht unit 200 m to bridge, 12º19.11'N 102º7.13'E 218m, malaise trap, 2–9.x.2008, Suthida & Charoenchai T3951. Paratypes: 2♂♂1♀ ( QSBG, INHS), same data as holotype; 3♂♂ ( NWAFU, QSBG), Chanthaburi Khao Khitchakut NP Campground/ Prabaht unit, 12º48.852'N 102º9.204'E 99m, malaise trap, 18–25.viii.2008, Suthida & Charoenchai T2986.
Etymology. The specific name “ splendens ” refers to the splendid color of dorsum of the insects.
