Mémoires de l’Institut scientifique de Madagascar, sér. B, 4: 125 (1952). — Lectotype (here designated): Grevé 209 (P! [P00413173]; iso-, P! [P00413171, P00413172]). As here circumscribed, Diospyros greveana H.Perrier excludes D. greveana H.Perrier subsp. boinensis H. Perrier , which is considered to represent a distinct species, for which the new combination is proposed above. Grevé 209 is here chosen as the lectotype of D. greveana H.Perrier instead of the other syntype (Grevé 43) because it possesses mature fruit.
