Type Locality: "Monterey, Tamaulipas [= Nuevo Leon]," [ Mexico].
Vernacular Names: Allen's Squirrel.
Distribution: SE Coahuila through C Nuevo Leon, south through W Tamaulipas to extreme N San Luis Potosi ( Mexico).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Sciurus ( Hall, 1981:430) . Reviewed by Best (1995 a, Mammalian Species No. 501).
