Patellapis (Chaetalictus) cinctifera (Cockerell 1946)

Diagnosis. The male is unknown. The female is easy to distinguish from the similar species P. pearstonensis and P. chubbi in having the supraclypeal area strongly and completely reticulate.

Description

Female. Bl = 6,2mm. General habitus ( Fig. 65e ). Head. L = 1,5mm; W = 1,7mm. Head wider than long ( Fig. 65a ). Integument black except mandibles and clypeus partly reddish-brown. Face shiny and with loose, pallid brownish, erect hairs. Mandibles bidentate. Clypeus and supraclypeal area convex in profile. Clypeus strongly and sparsely punctate; surface shiny. Clypeoantennal distance 0,3mm. Supraclypeal area sparsely punctate; surface slightly dull; strongly and completely reticulate. Paraocular area densely punctate; surface shiny and extensively sculptured. Antennae brownish-black. Mesosoma. L = 1,3mm; W (ITS) = 1,3mm. Integument black. Scutum shiny; surface finely and completely reticulate; disc finely and sparsely punctate (i = 1,5–2,5d) ( Fig. 65b ). Scutellum as illustrated in Fig. 65c . Scutum, scutellum, metanotum, mesepisternum and propodeum with greyish to pallid brownish, erect hairs. Basal area of propodeum as illustrated in Fig. 65c ; propodeum and marginal region of posterior truncation slightly dull; finely and completely reticulate. Wings. Slightly fuscouse. Legs. Integument reddish-brown. Vestiture greyish to pallid brownish. Ts coarsely serrate; with about 8 (long), oblique projections ( Fig. 65f ). Bp as illustrated ( Fig. 65g ). Metasoma. L = 3,5mm; W = 2,0mm. Integument brownish except the margins of T usually pallid brownish (T3–T4) to reddish (T1–T2); T1–T2 partly reddish; T3–T4 completely brownish to pallid brownish; margins of T extensively translucent. Apical hair bands absent (at most present on T3–T4 laterally). Prepygidial fimbria mostly brownish. Metasomal terga as illustrated in Fig. 65d .

Male. Unknown.

Distribution ( Fig. 69). Records exist from KwaZulu–Natal and the Eastern Cape.
