Patellapis (Chaetalictus) pearstonensis (Cameron 1905) View in CoL

Halictus pearstonensis Cameron, 1905a: 237–238 .

The description of H. pearstonensis was published in part 4 of volume 15 of the Transactions of the South African Philosophical Society that was issued on 26 January 1905 (printed on cover of this issue). Thus, it has priority over H. schönlandi that was published in issue 5 of volume 1 of the Records of the Albany Museum issued on 26 September 1905.

Diagnosis. The male is characterised by the bifid lower gonostylus, which forms a small, slender projection and a broad, hyaline, hairy projection. The female of P. pearstonensis is similar to that of P. chubbi . They can be easily distinguished by the size of the head, which is (slightly) longer than wide in P. chubbi and about as long as wide in P. pearstonensis . The female of P. cinctifera differs from P. pearstonensis in having the basal area of the propodeum finely wrinkled. This area is coarsely wrinkled in P. pearstonensis .
