The fossil Aralia lucida Dorofeev (1963: 248) [IFPNI: http://fossilplants.info/names/ 19C7801D-8BE7-4FEB-A746- 242296C275BE], being based on a single fossil specimen of fruit endocarp from the Miocene sediments of Siberia, serving thus as a holotype, is accepted as validly published. However, Aralia lucida Dorofeev is a later homonym of extant A. lucida Hasskarl (1842: 30) . Since it has no taxonomic synonyms and is in current use ( Nikitin 2007), a new species name is proposed below in accordance with the requirements of the International Code of Nomenclature for Algae, Fungi, and Plants ( McNeill et al. 2012).
