Genus Strobliella Kieffer View in CoL

The only species included here, Strobliella intermedia , was described on the basis of a single male from Austria, which was last studied by Edwards (1938) and is now regarded as lost ( Jaschhof 1999). Three males at my disposal have genitalic structures exactly like those illustrated by Edwards (1938: fig. 7d) for S. intermedia , which leads me to regard them as conspecific. If my identification is correct, then the generic definition of Strobliella needs to be modified: male flagellomeres were previously thought to lack crenulate whorls, while those are present in the specimens studied here ( Fig. 8D View FIGURE 8 ). This discrepancy is discussed under the heading of S. intermedia . As the presence of crenulate whorls is a character rendering Strobliella even more similar to Groveriella , the distinctness of the two genera should be reconsidered once the morphology of female Strobliella is better known.
