Rubus clinocephalus Focke (January 1910: 102) View in CoL
Type:— CHINA. Yunnan : Mengzi, collection date unknown, A. Henry 10293 (erroneously cited by Focke as 10239) (holotype B, probably destroyed, photo A!, isotypes E!, K!, US!) .
Rubus multibracteatus Léveillé & Vaniot (1902: 99) View in CoL , nom. illeg., non Boulay & Pierrat (1900: 128).— R. pluribracteatus Lu & Boufford (2003: 255) View in CoL nom. illeg. superfl. Type:— CHINA. Guizhou: Guanling County (Mou-You-Se), 17 July 1900, E. Bodinier 494 (holotype P!).
Rubus mallodes Focke (January 1910: 104) View in CoL . Type:— CHINA. Sichuan: Min River , June 1903, E. H . Wilson 3479 (holotype B, probably destroyed, isotypes A!, K!) .
Rubus andropogon Léveillé (February 1910: 58) . Type :— CHINA. Guizhou, June 1909, J. Esquirol s.n. (holotype E!, isotype A!) .
Rubus major Focke (1911b: 72) View in CoL . Type:— CHINA. Yunnan: on Mekong-Yongjiang divide, September 1903, G. Forrest 916 (holotype E!, isotype P!) .
Notes: —This species was formerly known as Rubus multibracteatus Léveillé & Vaniot (1902: 99) View in CoL , a later homonym of R. multibracteatus Boulay & Pierrat (1900: 128) View in CoL . Lu & Boufford (2003) proposed the name R. pluribracteatus View in CoL to replace R. multibracteatus Léveillé & Vaniot View in CoL in the Flora of China, but their name is a superfluous replacement name since they cited R. clinocephalus Focke (1910: 102) View in CoL , R. mallodes Focke (1910: 104) View in CoL , R. andropogon Léveillé (1910: 58) View in CoL and R. major Focke (1911b: 72) View in CoL as synonyms.
Rubus clinocephalus and R. mallodes were published simultaneously, and neither had been synonymized to the other one before, therefore they have equal priority. Here R. clinocephalus is chosen as the accepted name.
Rubus clinocephalus Focke var. lobatisepalus (T. T. Yu & L. T. Lu) Huan C. Wang & H. Sun View in CoL , comb. nov. Basionym: Rubus multibracteatus H. Léveillé & Vaniot var. lobatisepalus Yu & Lu (1982: 458) View in CoL . Type:— CHINA.
Yunnan: Longling County, 2500 m, 10 August 1940, C. W . Wang 90045 (holotype KUN!) .
Notes: — Yu & Lu (1982: 458) described this taxon as a variety of Rubus multibracteatus H. Léveillé & Vaniot , but this name is illegitimate, and the correct name is R. clinocephalus Focke (see above). Thus a new combination for var. lobatisepalus is required and proposed here.
