Description

Relatively small species, length: „ 5.5 mm, ♀ 5.7 mm.

Colour as in obsoletus (see above) but mesosterna, mesopleura, and abdomen (excluding posterior segmental margins) dark brown; vertex slightly acute anteriorly, frons strongly compressed laterally with median keel sharp.

Male genitalia with subgenital plates ( Figures 94, 95 View Figures 94–108 ) with basal expanded region relatively short and broad, oval-shaped, apical spine-like process short and relatively robust, distinctly shorter than basal expanded region in ventral view. Style as in Figure 96 View Figures 94–108 . Aedeagal shaft ( Figure 97 View Figures 94–108 ) relatively short and slender in lateral view, apex slightly expanded, with an elongate, anteriorly directed, filamentous process arising from dorsal margin of expanded apex.

Material examined

Holotype: „, [ Malaysia, Sabah]: British northern Borneo, Tenompok , Jesselton , 1460 m, 48 km E., 10–19 February 1959 ( T. C. Maa) ( BPBM) . Paratype: [ Malaysia, Sabah]: 1♀, British northern Borneo, Tenompok , Jesselton , 1460 m, 30 mi. E., 17–21 October 1958 ( Faunula of Bamboo Hut , Lot. # 2, T. C. Maa) ( BPBM) .

Distribution

Malaysia (northern Borneo: Sabah).

Remarks

This species is similar to obsoletus but can be distinguished from this species by the more robust apical process of the subgenital plate and narrower aedeagal shaft in lateral view.
