Material.—Middle Eocene, south-central Ukraine.
Remarks.—The long, thin protriaene ( Fig. 4A View Fig ) may be assigned to Theneidae . This type of spicules appear, e.g., in Thenea megaspina Lendenfeld, 1907 ( Lendenfeld 1907: pl. 21: 20). The same applies for the diaenes ( Fig. 1Y View Fig , AA) which resemble spicules of T. megaspina Lendenfeld, 1907 (compare Lendenfeld 1907: pl. 21: 21). However, geodiid affinity of the latter spicules cannot be ruled out either.
