Dinotoperla View in CoL sp. Mingenew
Larva. Remarks. A species from Western Australia (WA) has been suggested as being similar to D. bassae however, the adult specimens were in poor condition with the exception of the genitalia. Sampling undertaken by Hynes & Bunn (1984) in the area of the listed location did not provide any additional specimens. The specimens were collected near Mingenew (south of Geraldton ) but no further record for Dinotoperla seems to have become available in WA since. More specimens will need to be collected to place this species appropriately. It would seem odd if it was D. bassae considering the distances between specimens and the period of separation between the west coast and east coast of Australia. All other gripopteryid species from WA are endemic to that state.
