Type Locality: Peru, Huanuco, 3 mi. (5 km) S Tingo Maria, 2,400 ft. (732 m).
Vernacular Names: Short-headed Broad-nosed Bat.
Synonyms: Platyrrhinus latus Handley and Ferris 1972 ; Platyrrhinus saccharus Handley and Ferris 1972 .
Distribution: N Brazil; Colombia to Guianas; Ecuador; Peru; Bolivia.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Includes latus ; see Jones and Carter (1976). May not be distinct from helleri ; see Alberico (1990), but also see Anderson (1996).
