Trachylepis binotata ( Bocage, 1867)
Material (one specimen): One adult specimen (MHNCUP/REP 268, formerly UP-MHNFCP-040729; Fig. S41 View FIGURE S ), collected from unknown locality, date unknown.
Comments: Trachylepis binotata is a large arboreal skink found in southwestern Angola and northwestern Namibia ( Marques et al. 2018; Butler et al. 2019). Ferreira (1904, 1906) did not cite this specimen; however, the jar’s external tag is noted with the generic identification of “ Mabuia ”, an identification most likely done by him. Without locality information, we cannot assess whether the specimen falls inside the expected distribution range. Nevertheless, the specimen was most likely collected by Newton from Namibe Province, where this species is known to occur ( Marques et al. 2018).
