Material examined: Holotype male: Queensland: Upper Freshwater Creek, Whitfield Range, 15.xii.1974, MS Moulds, NMV PT- 2025.
Paratypes: Queensland: same data as for holotype, WTH- 2672, 2673, 2674, 0 0 79, 3 males 1 female, NMV; Palmerston Highway National Park, along Palmerston Highway, G. Theischinger & L. Mueller, 6– 7.iv.1997, 1 male, ANIC.
Diagnosis: This species is recognised by the stout gonopods, in lateral view a gonopod is 4/5ths as thick as long at its widest point, in ventral view each is excised at 2/3rds length, and in dorsal view a well-developed black tooth is present mesally at about 1/2 length.
Forewing length: Male 2.6–3.5 mm; female 3.3 mm.
Male genitalia: In lateral view sternum VI mesal process robust, slightly curved. Segment X obliquely truncate apically. Cerci elongate, slightly expanded distally, club-shaped. Gonopods in lateral view stoutly subtriangular, nearly rectangular, each with strong, sclerotised tooth on concave inner margin, clearly visible in dorsal view. Phallic apparatus elongate, with pair of slender spines dorsally, and laterally paired striated parameres.
Female: The single female available, collected from Upper Freshwater Creek, shows no distinctive features.
Etymology: Named for Leon Mueller who, with Gunther Theischinger, has collected many interesting Trichoptera .
Distribution: Known only from 2 localities in northeastern Queensland: in the Whitfield Range, and in the Bellenden Ker Range.
