Promalactis serratiola Kim sp. nov.
( Figures 1 View Figure 1 (A), 2(E), 3(E), 5(C,Ca–b))
Diagnosis
This species is externally close to P. seimana sp. nov. and P. prolixa sp. nov. in forewing pattern, but can be easily distinguished by the subbasal and antemedial bands, which are straight oblique towards the wing base, and by the female genitalia, with the lamella antevaginalis bearing an irregularly dentate caudal margin.
Description
Adult ( Figures 2 View Figure 2 (E) and 3(D)). Head: Frons golden brown, vertex white; Scape of antenna white entirely, same length as diameter of eye; flagellum white dorsally; Labial palpus yellowish brown, 3rd segment slightly darker and shorter than 2nd segment. Thorax: Thorax and tegula yellowish brown. Wing expanse 8.0– 8.5 mm. Forewing ground colour yellowish brown; two bands all white edged with fuscous scales: subbasal far from wing base, traversed from 1/9 of costal margin to 1/7 of posterior margin; antemedial band straightly oblique, traversed from 1/3 of costal margin to 2/5 of posterior margin; costal patch at 3/4, large, semi-circular, reaching beyond half across wing; fuscous suffusion below costal patch; another suffusion at apex; fringes grayish dark brown after middle of posterior margin to apex, partly tinged with yellow near apex. Hindwing more or less lanceolate; fringes grayish dark brown.
Male genitalia. Unknown
Female genitalia ( Figure 5 View Figure 5 (C,Ca–b)). Papilla anales almost same length as apophyses anteriores. Apophyses posteriores more than 2.5 times length of apophyses anteriores. Lamella postvaginalis protruding, crenate on caudal margin, higher than lamella antevaginalis. Lamella antevaginalis dentate irregularly, setose, somewhat incised medially. Ostium wider than antrum in width. Antrum somewhat long cylindrical, gradually narrow from caudal margin to 2/3, almost same length as ductus bursa. Corpus bursae small with round signum bearing many different sizes of spines.
Holotype
Female, Cambodia, Siem Reap Province, Phnom Kulen National Park , 200 m to headquarter, 21.II.2012, RK Duwal, gen. slide no. 9289/ S Kim.
Etymology
The specific name of the new species is derived from the Latin, serratus (=saw) plus -ola (a Latin diminutive suffix), referring to the caudal margin of the lamella antevaginalis dentate (=saw-like) of the female genitalia.
