Diagnosis
This species is externally similar to the Chinese species, P. carinata Du et al 2011 , but it can be easily distinguished by the forewing with white costal patch a large semi-circular, and the male genitalia with a heavily sclerotized gnathos which is downward from base to 1/2 and then upturned from 1/2 to apex; the juxta bear heavily developed and elongated lateral lobes. The female genitalia are also close to those of P. carinata Du et al 2011 , but can be differentiated by a pair of signa, bearing each one spine.
Description
Adult ( Figures 2 View Figure 2 (C) and 3(C)). Head: Frons and vertex brown. Antenna with scape white dorsally, pale yellowish brown ventrally, almost same length as diameter of eye; fragellum white and dark brown dorsally; 2nd segment of labial palpus pale yellowish brown ventrally, dark brown dorsally; 3rd segment dark brown except pale yellowish brown at base, shorter than 2nd segment. Thorax: Thorax and tegula dark brown. Wing expanse 7.0– 7.5 mm. Forewing ground colour dark brown; two white bands edged with fuscous scales: subbasal oblique, slightly arched toward wing base, traversed from costal margin to posterior margin near wing base; antemedial oblique, arched towards wing base, broadened at costal margin, gradually narrowed towards posterior margin; costal patch at 2/3, large, semi-circular, reaching beyond half across wing, proceeded by fuscous scales; fuscous suffusion below costal patch before tornus; another suffusion at apex; fringes grayish dark brown, except yellow near apex. Leg: Tibia of hind leg yellowish brown with apical asymmetric spurs, one 1.5 times longer than the other.
Male genitalia ( Figure 4 View Figure 4 (B,Ba–b)). Uncus trifurcate, 1/3 length of saccus. Gnathos tougue-shaped, downward from base to 1/2, upward from 1/2 to apex, heavily sclerotized from 1/2 to apex, setose ventrally, as long as uncus. Valva symmetrical; costal margin slightly concave at sub-apex, gradually narrowed to round apex; saccular margin convex at 1/2, gradually narrowed from 1/2 to apex; processus of sacculus elongate, finger-shaped, longer than valva. Juxta with symmetrical, bearing elongated lobes, setose from 1/3 to apex, longer than valva, dense hairs at apex. Saccus wide at base, elongated, as same length as lobe of juxta. Aedeagus straight, same length as the valva plus saccus, with apical cornutus, 1/14 length of aedeagus.
Female genitalia ( Figure 5 View Figure 5 (B,Ba–b)). Papilla anales setose, same length as apophyses anteriores. Apophyses posteriores longer than apophyses anteriores. Caudal margin of lamella antevaginalis flattened, dense hairs entirely. Ostium funnel-like. Antrum long cylinder-like, wider than that of ductus bursae in width. Ductus bursae slightly longer than antrum. Corpus bursae long-pear shaped bearing a pair of signa, spine-like.
Holotype
Male, Cambodia, Siem Reap Province, Phnom Kulen National Park, 200 m to headquarter, 21.II.2012, RK Duwal, gen. slide no. 9287/ S Kim. Paratype. one male and three females: one female, Cambodia, Pursat Province, Sam kos, 8.II.2014, Bae et al., gen. slide no. 9586/ S Kim; one male, Cambodia, Kampot Province Bokor National Park , 16.I.2013, Bae et al., gen. slide no. 9590/ S Kim; one female, Cambodia, Siem Reap Province, Phnom Kulen National Park , 200 m to headquarter, 21.II.2012, RK Duwal, gen. slide no. 9290/ S Kim; one female, Cambodia, Mondulkiri Province Seima Biodiversity Conservation Area , 1.VII.2011, Bae et al.
Etymology
The specific name of the new species is derived from the Latin, prolixa (=elongate), referring to the elongated lobe of the juxta of male genitalia.
Distribution
Cambodia (Northwest, West, South, East; new).
Remark
The female genitalia of the new species is very close to the that of P. carinata ( Du et al. 2011) , except for small morphological differences. The DNA base-molecular work on sexual matches between these species should be studied further.
