R e m a r k s. As it was indicated earlier ( Mikhailov, Fet, 1986), the types of Micaria modesta are deposited in the Zoological Museum of the Moscow State University, Russia (ZMMU), together with other spider species described and identified by A. I. Kroneberg from the A. P. Fedchenko Turkestan Expedition ( Kroneberg, 1875). The examination of these syntypes confirms the identity of Micaria rossica with M. modesta . Both names are given in 1875, but the former one is regularly used as valid in taxonomic and numerous faunistic publications, whereas the latter one is known only from catalogues and synonymy lists. So, the name M. rossica is to be retained.
Due to the wide Holarctic range and the morphological variability of its genitalia, Micaria rossica [compare the figs in Wunderlich (1980) and Mikhailov & Fet (1986)] was known under different names, like M. scenica Simon, 1878 , M. hissarica Charitonov, 1951 , M. zhadini Charitonov, 1951 , which have been already synonymized ( World Spider Catalog, 2015).
