Similarly to the above case, Praehelichus Bollow, 1940 was described as a new subgenus of Helichus to include four species, Helichus longus (Solsky, 1876) , Helichus sinensis Fairmaire, 1888 , Helichus sericatus (C. O. Waterhouse, 1881) , and Helichus solskyi (Zaitzev, 1908) . Subsequently, Praehelichus was raised to genus rank and was used as valid, although Bollow and subsequent workers failed to designate the type species. According to ICZN (1999, Art. 13.3), Praehelichus Bollow is unavailable. Löbl and Smetana (2006: 61) designated Dryops sericatus C. O. Waterhouse, 1881 as the type species of Praehelichus . As they had not explicitly indicated that the taxon was new, this name remained unavailable ( ICZN 1999, Art. 16.1). In order to make the name available, the new genus Praehelichus is here established, with Dryops sericatus C. O. Waterhouse, 1881 designated as the type species. The original description given by Bollow (1940: 36) characterized the taxon.
Paulusiella Löbl and Smetana , new genus zoobank.org/ urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:085F6DFA-9767-4A66-A84E-D7805FF82855
Mandl (1974: 640) stated he was establishing the new genus Paulusiella for Escalerina serraticornis Paulus, 1972 and a new species, Paulusiella fossulatipennis Mandl, 1974 . In the same paper he also described Paulusiella richteri Mandl, 1974 with a subspecies, Paulusiella richteri acuticollis Mandl, 1974 , and Paulusiella pallida Mandl, 1974 . The type species was not designated and Paulusiella Mandl is therefore, according to ICZN (1999, Art. 13.3), unavailable. Löbl (2007: 32) designated Paulusiella fossulatipennis Mandl, 1974 as the type species. As he had not explicitly indicated that the taxon was new, this name remained unavailable ( ICZN 1999, Art. 16.1). In order to make the name available, the new genus Paulusiella is here established, with Paulusiella fossulatipennis Mandl, 1974 as the type species. The description given by Mandl (1974) differentiates the taxon.
The relationships of Paulusiella are doubtful, and the genus was placed by Ivie and Barclay (2011) within Elateridae incertae sedis.
