Berothella bannana Yang, 1986: 156 . Type locality: China (Yunnan: Menghai ).

Diagnosis. This species is characterized by the male tergum 9 + ectoprocts rounded distally, the sternum 9 short, posteriorly truncate, the complex of fused gonocoxites, gonapophyses and gonostyli 10 with distinct bristle-bow, reaching to segment 8 anteriorly.

Description. Male. Body length 8.3 mm; forewing length 13.0 mm, hindwing length 11.6 mm.

Head generally pale yellow with brownish setae, blackish brown dotted on vertex. Compound eyes blackish brown. Antennae pale yellow with yellowish setae, but setae on scape and pedicel pale brown and longer than flagellum; scape and pedicel with blackish brown spots; scape long and thick, length-width ratio approximately 5:1.

Prothorax generally pale yellow with blackish brown spots, setae yellow dorsally but dark brown ventrally; pronotum with dense blackish brown spots. Meso- and metathorax pale yellow with blackish brown spots dorsally. Legs pale yellow with dark brown spots and generally brown setae. Forewing distinctly convex in pterostigmal area, and falcate on apex, slightly smoky brown, slightly darker along distal margin, with brown spots on branching points of longitudinal veins; pterostigma narrowly elongate, brown, with hyaline parts at middle, paler on distal margin. Longitudinal veins pale yellow but paler on distal margin, interrupted by many brownish spots; crossveins brown. Hindwing slightly paler than forewing, immaculate.

Abdomen yellow with blackish brown spots and pale yellow setae.

Male genitalia. Tergum 9 + ectoprocts rounded distally in lateral view. Trichobothria reduced. Sternum 9 short, shorter than sternum 8, posteriorly truncate. Gonocoxites 9 paired, rod-shaped proximally, with hook-like apex. Complex of fused gonocoxites, gonapophyses and gonostyli 10 (= paramere-mediuncus complex) with a basal sclerite and a short bow formed by bundled bristles, reaching to segment 8 anteriorly. Fused gonocoxites 11 (= gonarcus) forming an arched sclerite. Hypandrium internum subtriangular.

Female. Body length 6.8 mm; forewing length 9.5 mm, hindwing length 7.5 mm.

Female genitalia. Sternum 7 mostly reduced, gonocoxites 7 present as paired domed sclerites, bearing long setae. Gonapophyses 7 as a pair of smooth sclerite discs. Gonocoxites 8 in ventral view narrow, ribbon-shaped, strongly sclerotized, medially with paired membranous processus directed anteroventrad, nearly subtriangular. Gonapophyses 8 (= pudiculum) forming a tiny arcuate sclerite ventrally. Tergum 9 + ectoprocts slightly shorter than tergum 8, ventrally tapering and bearing long setae. Gonocoxites 9 paired, club-shaped, bearing long setae; hypocaudae almost 1.5 times as long as basal part of gonocoxites 9. Bursa-copulatrix-spermatheca complex comprising a small but strongly sclerotized ball-shaped element and a basal coil with lumens of different width.

Materials examined. 1♂, China: Yunnan, Mengla [21°46.528'N, 101°57.153'E], 800 m, 11.IV.1981, Fasheng Li ( CAU) GoogleMaps ; 1♀, China: Yunnan, Menghai [21°96.343'N, 100°45.944'E], 18.IV.1981, Chikun Yang ( CAU) .

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Remarks. The primary type of this species is a female specimen, which was collected in Menghai, Yunnan on April 17, 1981. Unfortunately, the primary type cannot be currently located. We examined one male and one female deposited in CAU. They were collected from Menghai and Mengla of Yunnan in 1981, and probably belong to the specimens of B. bannana which were originally described by Yang (1986). Although the presently examined specimens are not the types, the identification of them as B. bannana could be verified based on the characters as described in Yang (1986).
