Measurement. Male, 2.8–3.0 mm (including wings).

Dorsum light yellowish-white with two brownish-yellow bands extending from anterior margin of vertex to end of pronotum ( Fig.10 View FIGURES 1–16 ); face brownish-yellow ( Fig.14 View FIGURES 1–16 ).

Abdominal apodemes reaching 5th abdominal sternite. Pygofer side with process bilobed ( Fig.26 View FIGURES 24–27 ). Paramere with subapical protrusion triangular broadened basally. Connective short and broad with apical feet distinct ( Fig.25 View FIGURES 24–27 ). Process of dorsal apodeme of aedeagus straight with termination narrowed; aedeagal shafts broadened in lateral view with two tooth-like protrusions subapically and directed ventrad, adjacent to each other at base, medial protrusion shorter and narrower than lateral protrusion. ( Figs 24–25 View FIGURES 24–27 )

Observed Materials. Holotype: ♂, CHINA, Hunan Province, Chenzhou, Mt.Wuzhifeng , 15–VIII– 1985, coll. Yalin ZHANG and Yonghui CHAI. Paratypes : 2 ♂♂ 3 ♀♀, same data as holotype ; 1♂ 1♀, Hunan Province, Hengshan , 11–VIII–1985, coll. Yalin ZHANG and Yonghui CHAI.

Notes. The new species is similar to Trifida melichari (Distant, 1908) in color pattern and male genitalia, but can be distinguished from the later by the aedeagus with the protrusions on the aedeagal shaft more distal and fewer in number, and by the narrower apical part of the dorsal apodeme.

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin word “ elegantem ” which means “elegant”, referring to the apical part of the dorsal apodeme of the aedeagus.
