Diagnosis

Both sexes dichoptic. Fronto-orbital plate and parafacial with setulae. Palpus yellow, base of the dilation very thin, spatula shaped except in L. serotina ( Figure 3a – g View Figure 3 ). Tarsi compressed dorsoventrally ( Figure 4b View Figure 4 ) or simple ( Figure 4c View Figure 4 ) and pulvilli and claws well developed or very small ( Figure 4a – f View Figure 4 ). Dorsocentral setae 2+3 – 4. Anepimeron setulose in the centre. Meron bare or with setulae. Prosternum bare. Sternite 1 setulose, except in L. serotina . Wing, all veins bare, except costal.

To avoid redundant descriptions, the characters listed below, present in all Neotropical Lispe species , will not be repeated.

Head. Male and female dichoptic. Eye sparsely ciliated. Frontal setae with different lengths. Two pairs of reclinate orbital setae. One pair of developed ocellar setae. One pair of postocellar, poorly developed setae. One pair of vertical, inner setae, developed and convergent, larger than ocellar setae. One pair of outer vertical setae, divergent and smaller than ocellar setae. Antenna not reaching the insertion of vibrissa; arista plumose on the basal half and apical half bare. Abdomen. All tergites with lateral marginal seta.
