D i s t r i b u t i o n:SouthAfrica.

Chrysis peringuezi has been synonymized with Chrysis alternans DAHLBOM by KIMSEY & BOHART (1990: 381) without studying the type. The two species are similar in colour, but Chrysis peringuezi differs from Chrysis alternans in having six teeth on tergite III. The emendation of the name (MOCSÁRY 1893) is invalid. The species has been dedicated to the director of the museum in Cape Town, Mr. Peringuey, but his name was erroneousely written Peringuez in MOCSÁRY (1890: 65).
