Type Locality: China: Hainan Isl.

Vernacular Names: Hainan Gibbon.

Distribution: Hainan Isl ( China); Hoa Binh and Cao Bang Provs., Vietnam.

Conservation: CITES – Appendix I; U.S. ESA – Endangered; IUCN – Critically Endangered as N. nasutus hainanus .

Discussion: Separated from concolor by Groves (2001 c). It is possible that nasutus may be an earlier name for the mainland population of this species.
