Laena apfelbecki Schuster, 1915
( Figs. 2 View FIGURES 1–8 , 22, 36 View FIGURES 22–46 )
Examined specimens: Greece, Nom. Évia, Dirfi above Plátania, Ag. Sofia, 850 m, 5.VI.1995, leg. Giachino & Vailati, 2 ex. SMNS .
Remarks: This species was listed in the Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleoptera ( Ando et al. (2008) from Greece and also from Turkey. The single Turkish record is based on Ferrer & Soldati (1999), considered herein as misidentification. Also Schuster (1916) did not know this species from Turkey. L. ganglbaueri Reitter, 1891 from northern Turkey is similar in external morphology, but the femora are without distinct teeth, and the apicale of the aedeagus is longer (compare Figs. 36, 38 View FIGURES 22–46 ). In L. apfelbecki the male posterior tibia is distinctly swollen at interior margin ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 22–46 ).
Published localities: Parnass, Euboea (both Greece) ( Schuster 1916).
