Cyrtocapsus columbiensis Carvalho View in CoL

( Figs. 15, 16 View FIGURES 8–17 , 65, 66 View FIGURES 58–70 )

Crytocapsus columbiensis Carvalho 1987: 235 (original description; Colombia); Schuh 1995: 542 (catalog), 2002–2013 (online catalog).

Diagnosis. Cyrtocapsus columbiensis ( Figs. 15, 16 View FIGURES 8–17 ) is recognized by the black body, pale yellow antenna, dark brown middle and hind coxae, basally brown front coxa, yellow front and middle femora, and fuscous or black hind femur.

This species is similar to several other uniformly black species with pale antennae but the dark brown coxae and fuscous to black hind femur distinguish it from all other species.

Description. Male ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 8–17 ) (n = 2): Length to apex of membrane 2.94–3.20 mm, length to base of cuneus 2.18–2.30 mm, widest width across hemelytra 1.25–1.34 mm. Head: Width 0.66–0.67 mm, interocular width 0.34 mm. Labium: Length 0.74–0.80 mm. Antenna: Segment I length 0.32–0.34 mm; II, 0.46–0.48 mm; III, 0.37–0.38 mm; IV, 0.58 mm. Pronotum: Median length 0.83–0.84 mm, basal width 1.07–1.12 mm.

Coloration: Head black dorsally and ventrally, pale brownish orange on sides along mandibular plate; eyes dark reddish brown. Labium brown to dark brown, tinged with red. Antenna pale yellow to yellowish white. Pronotum and scutellum uniformly black. Hemelytron Uniformly black; membrane translucent, veins dark brown to fuscous, inside of areole smokey brown. Ventral surface black. Hind and middle coxae dark brown to fuscous, with only apices pale; front coxa pale, with base narrowly brown. Front and middle femora pale yellowish white; hind femur black, with only apex pale. Tibiae and tarsomeres I and II pale yellowish white; tarsomere III and claws brown.

Texture and vestiture: Head shiny, weakly rugose, finely punctate on frons, with silvery, sericeous setae, especially along inner margins of eyes and median line. Pronotum shiny, coarsely punctate on disc, more finely punctate on collar and calli; collar and calli with dense silvery, sericeous setae; disc with more scattered, silvery, sericeous setae. Scutellum finely punctate, with dense silvery, sericeous setae. Hemelytron dull, impunctate, with scattered silvery, sericeous setae.

Male genitalia: Left paramere ( Fig. 65 View FIGURES 58–70 ) C-shaped, relatively broad through middle, tapering to a weak hook apically. Right paramere ( Fig. 66 View FIGURES 58–70 ) elongate oval, weakly tapered, and apically rounded.

Female ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 8–17 ) (n = 2): Length to apex of membrane 3.14–3.26 mm, length to base of cuneus 2.30–2.46 mm, widest width across hemelytra 1.28–1.34 mm. Head: Width 0.69–0.70 mm, interocular width 0.35–0.37 mm. Labium: Length 0.75–0.80 mm. Antenna: Segment I length 0.30–0.32 mm; II, 0.42–0.43 mm; III and IV missing. Pronotum: Median length 0.80–0.82 mm, basal width 1.09 mm.

Host. The holotype and 16 paratypes were all taken on an unknown species of Fabaceae ( Carvalho 1987) .

Distribution. Previously known from Colombia. Pará, Brazil, represents a new country record.

Discussion. All but the two of the 16 original paratypes were destroyed in the MNRJ fire in 2018. I note that Carvalho (1987) indicated that males were unknown in the original description, even though he listed 14 female and two male paratypes.

Type material examined. COLOMBIA: 2 paratype ♀♀, Pivijay, Mag[dalena Dept.], Colombia, Aug. 1985, A. Madrigal, ex Fabaceae (USNM) .

Other specimens examined. BRAZIL: Pará: 2 ♂♂, Serra dos Carajás, Pará, Brazil, Nov. 1988, Roppa & Magno ( USNM) .
