A [cocephalus] funebris Stål, 1855: 98 (synonymy by Stål 1866)
Diagnosis. A sexually dimorphic species from South Africa, males (form funebris ) dark with prominent crossbands and a shorter head ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 F) and females (form viduus ) pale, with tegminal pale markings confined to costa ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 E).
Remarks. Metcalf and Wade (1962) list viduus as junior synonym of funebris , but this is incorrect because priority was determined by the first reviser ( Stål 1866).
Tremapterus (Nyanja) virididorsum sp. nov.
Etymology. viridis (adjective), green; dorsum (n.), back.
Diagnosis. Pronotum greenish, contrasting with orange scutellum; otherwise, form and colour as in T. (Nyanja) perfasciatus , but lower half of face and propleura ivory, dorsum with 2nd pronotal band nearly effaced, tegmina darker brown, with irregular pale irrorations ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 J). Male unknown. Ovipositor with 2nd valvulae fused on basal half, very broad, tapered to sharp tip ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 G). Length: 4.1 mm.
Type. Holotype ♀, ANGOLA: Bruco, 26 Feb.–2 March 1972, beaten from Seanchocarpus; Southern African Exp. B.M. 1972-1; in BMNH.
Remarks. Although this species is known only from the female, it comes from the desert of southwestern Angola and is therefore unlikely to be conspecific with the only congeneric species known only from the male: T. (N.) perfasciata from Uganda.
