Widely distributed in tropical America from Florida and Mexico down to northern Argentina and S Brazil (Reiner- Drehwald 2009); recent records from Panama from Darién ( Dauphin et al. 2006, as L. magnoliae ), Chiriqui, and Panamá provinces (Reiner-Drehwald 2009).
