A widespread but scattered Afro-American species, in the Neotropics known from the West Indies ( Cuba, Guadeloupe, Dominica), Colombia, Ecuador incl. Galapagos, Brazil, Guianas ( Gradstein 2013; Schäfer-Verwimp 1999; Lavocat-Bernard & Schäfer-Verwimp 2011); from Africa known only from Tanzania ( Pócs 1991); new to Central America. The specimen 30741 has been included in molecular studies ( Heinrichs et al. 2012a).
