An Afro-American species, widespread but scattered in the Neotropics ( Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil) ( Equihua & Pócs 1999, as Aphanolejeunea pustulosa ; Parolly et al. 2004, as Aphanolejeunea kunertiana ; Uribe & Gradstein 1998, as A. kunertiana ), and recently reported from Africa, Bioko Island ( Müller & Pócs 2007); new to Central America.
