A scattered northern South American species at lower to middle elevations (0–1400 m), known from Colombia to Peru and Brazil (Dauphin 2003); new to Central America.
Ceratolejeunea desciscens can be easily recognized by the undivided underleaves, the (mostly) entire leaf margins and 2-6 moniliate ocelli.
