A widespread neotropical species, from Panama so far reported from Darién and Panamá provinces.

Crandall-Stotler et al. (2009) accepted Cystolejeunea as a distinct genus which was confirmed by Heinrichs et al. (2014b); however, further phylogenetic studies showed that this species is nested within Cheilolejeunea (Schäfer- Verwimp et al. 2014).
