Widespread in the Neotropics ( Mexico to Brazil, Galápagos Islands, West Indies) and known also from the Atlantic coast of Europe, Italy, and Macaronesia (as P. killarniensis Pearson ) ( Heinrichs et al. 1998; Paton 1999).
