A widespread tropical American species, known from Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, and the West Indies (Guadeloupe, Dominican Republic) ( Fulford & Sharp 1990; Dauphin 2005; Parolly et al. 2004).
