Amynthas bangoianus (Michaelsen, 1934)

Pheretima (Pheretima) bangoiana Michaelsen, 1934b: 505 , Figs. VI–VIII; Nakamura 1999: 40. Amynthas bangoianus— Sims & Easton 1972: 236 (sieboldi -group); Blakemore 2007a: 11; Blakemore 2008b; Blakemore 2016: 21, fig. 8.

Type locality. Vietnam (Khanh Hoa: Ba Ngoi ).

Type material. MNHN (576), France.

Records from Vietnam. Khanh Hoa (Cam Ranh: Ba Ngoi) (Michaelsen 1934).

Distribution. Only known from Vietnam.

Vietnamese name. Giun ba ngòi.

Remarks. The species has been considered as a synonym of Metaphire bahli (see Thai 1983, 2000a). However, Michaelsen (1934b: 508) states that male pores are simple and that "Kopulationstaschen" are absent, hence the species belongs to Amynthas rather than to Metaphire . Furthermore, the genital markings are quite different from those typical of M. bahli ( Blakemore 2016) .
