Type species: Paraporeuomena signata n. sp., here designated Description. Head and antennae. Fastigium of vertex narrow and pointed, not contiguous with fastigium of frons, much narrower than the first antennal segment. Eyes elliptical, prominent, face smooth with lateral grooves, higher than wide. Thorax. Pronotum as long as high, with a well-developed humeral excision, lateral lobes widely rounded. Legs. Long, fore coxae armed with a fine spine, fore, mid and hind femora armed, fore, mid and hind tibiae ventrally and dorsally armed, genicular lobes of fore, mid and hind femora armed with 2 spines on inner and outer margins. Conchate tympana on inner and open on outer margins of fore tibiae. Tegmina narrow, welldeveloped, shorter than hind wings.

Diagnosis. The new genus Paraporeuomena is tentatively included within the tribe Poreuomenini ; main differences with the genus Poreuomena Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878 are listed in the Table 1.

Etymology. After its faint resemblance with the African genus Poreuomena Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878

(Para = similar, related, poreuomena = abducta = detached).
