Typification

While describing Andropogon speciosus Steudel cited J. F. Royle collection from Nepal, “hrbr. nr. 263”. A search for Royle specimen at B, BSD, CAL, DD, PH, LIV, and K was unfruitful. Kellogg et al. (2020) had mentioned type held at B. In personal communication with Curator of B confirmed that there is no record of these specimens and express the possibility of getting destroyed in fire of the Berlin Botanical Museum in World War II. Thus there is a need to designate a neotype for the name P. speciosus . Hence, we have selected JF Royle collection from India, house at K (K000911732), determination by C. E. Hubbard, as a neotype, as it completely agrees with that of protologue.
