Hesperonoe senilis Chamberlin, 1919 View in CoL , synonymized to Hesperonoe complanata ( Johnson, 1901) View in CoL by Berkeley and Berkeley (1935).

Diagnosis (based on Fauchald 1977; Ruff 1995)

Body flattened with about 40 segments, having 15 pairs of elytra on segments 2, 4, 5, 7, 9,... 23, 26, 29 and 32; elytra completely covering dorsum. Bilobed prostomium with cephalic peaks; ceratophores of lateral antennae inserted beneath anterior margin. Parapodia biramous. Notochaetae more or less serrated, consisting of two different forms: upper notochaetae thick with blunt tip; lower notochaetae longer, more slender with pointed tip. Neurochaetae all unidentate and serrated, consisting of two forms: upper neurochaetae slender with long spinous region tapering to fine tip; lower neurochaetae thick with expanded subdistal spinous region and smooth tip.
