Soyedina merritti Baumann & Grubbs 1996:221 View in CoL . Holotype ♂ (USNM), Maul Spring , Powdermill Nature Reserve, Westmore- land Co., Pennsylvania, USA

Distribution. USA: PA ( DeWalt et al. 2019).

Material examined. USA, Pennsylvania, Somerset Co., spring into Jones Mill Run, Forbes State Forest , 40.05019, -79.263869, 16 April 1999, S.A. Grubbs, 4 males, 3 females ( WKUC) GoogleMaps ; Westmoreland Co., seep into Powdermill Run, Powdermill Nature Reserve , 40.13729, -79.25851, 1 April 1995, S.A. Grubbs, 4 males, 5 females (paratypes, WKUC) GoogleMaps ; seep into Indian Creek, PA 381, Forbes State Forest , 40.09207, -79.33244, 22 March 1998, S.A. Grubbs, 1 male, 1 female ( WKUC) GoogleMaps .

Remarks. Adults were described in Baumann & Grubbs (1996); the larva remains undescribed. The combination of the asymmetric dorsal ( Figs. 35–37, 40 View FIGURES 35–42 ) and ventral sclerites ( Figs. 35–36 View FIGURES 35–42 ), plus the inner epiproct member that is flanged and directed laterally with the flange lip approximately same width apically ( Figs. 36–38 View FIGURES 35–42 ), aligns this species closely with S. carolinensis and S. washingtoni .

Soyedina merritti is known only from a small geographic area along the Appalachian Plateau Province in southwestern Pennsylvania ( Fig. 80 View FIGURE 80 ).
